Passport delay complaints

05 Sep 2022 Managing complaints, News

The Office has received complaints about delays in processing passport applications.

Passport applications are processed by the Australian Passport Office (APO), which is a commonwealth agency and therefore out of jurisdiction for this Office.

If you have a complaint about your passport application, the first step is to try and resolve the issue directly with the APO. You can make a complaint via the online enquiries and feedback form.

If there are special reasons why your application should be prioritised and the APO does not resolve your complaint, you may wish to contact the Commonwealth Ombudsman, the external body that handles complaints about the actions and decision of Australian Government agencies.
