This report examined the Douglas Shire Council’s tender process and related issues for the 2006 contract to operate the Daintree River Ferry. The Ombudsman was satisfied that allegations of officers and councillors acting unlawfully or improperly were unsubstantiated; however, made 20 recommendations to the council to improve its procedures.
